SEO or SEA: which strategy should you choose?

Both bring customers from Google, but not the same way, not at the same pace, and not at the same cost. Here are the differences made clear - and why the right answer is often "both, in the right order".

How to choose?

What about both?

SEA brings the first leads and valuable data (which queries really convert); SEO takes those queries and wins them durably. Every month, the cost per prospect is compared between the two, and the budget follows what works.

What does it actually cost?

Questions we get about SEO and SEA

Does SEA (Google Ads) help SEO?

Not directly: Google does not rank a site higher because it buys ads. Indirectly, yes: campaigns reveal within weeks which queries convert, and those are the ones SEO should target. A site that converts paid clicks well will also convert organic traffic.

What is the minimum Google Ads budget for an SME?

It depends on your market's cost per click. In France, under €500 of media budget per month it is hard to gather enough data to optimise; most SMEs start between €1,000 and €2,000 per month. We set the budget with you after estimating the cost per click, and it stays on your account.

How long before SEO results?

Technical fixes act within weeks on indexation; lasting rankings on competitive queries take 3 to 6 months. That is why we often combine SEA at the start with SEO in parallel.

Do I have to choose between the two?

Rarely. SEA brings leads from the first month and data; SEO gradually reduces your dependence on media budget. Every month, the cost per prospect of each channel is compared, and the budget follows what works.

What happens if I stop?

SEA stops the day the budget stops. SEO keeps producing: technical fixes, pages and links stay in place. That is why we see SEO as an asset and SEA as an accelerator.
